Porch Time Productions is seeking artists for the relaunch of our comic line. Although we may have use for multiple artists and will keep all qualified applicants on file, we currently only have one position available, that of the book's regular penciller. As this is intended to be an ongoing title, we require someone reliable and willing to remain with the project for an indeterminate amount of time. This is a paying job, but know in advance that we are a very small publisher and are not offering anything near typical professional rates.

If you are easily offended, lack a sense of humor, or are unwilling to work with mature content, you may wish to look elsewhere. Our original series was once described as being for "mature readers with immature minds", which I've always felt was a pretty accurate description. It is primary a comedy with classic superhero comic influences, but does occasionally go to some pretty dark places. As such, we are ideally looking for someone with a relatively simple and clean style, but will consider all applicants.

We would prefer an artist located in the southeast Michigan area who can work with us in person, but this is not a requirement and we invite any interested parties to apply, regardless of location.

SIX POSITION DRILL: Increases Movement, Timing, Distance and great for practicing technique:


This drill is good for all ages, skills and can be used with most techniques. The benefits of this drill are to: increase your speed, train for distance, and improve your timing. Proper foot placement is important when working with new techniques. Also walk through a new technique before adding speed.

Position One & Two: Position one and two are for close in techniques. Most strikes are with elbows, knees and hands. Most techniques are to the side of the attack. Some advanced techniques require the counter-attack to be done on the inside of the attack. In the early stages of training, it is better to train on the outside of the attack.

Position Two & Three: Position two and three are used to side step the attack. Most techniques are applied to the outside of the attack, which places you with-in kicking range. Some advanced counter-techniques are applied on the inside of the attack. Practice should be hard and fast with both a shuffle step and a single step in combination with the counter-techniques.

Position Four & Five: Position four and five are diagonal steps away from the attack. In most situations, you are moving diagonally away from a kicking attack. However, in some cases this movement can also be use in a two or three step attack.

Note: The six position drill trains you not to step backwards in defense. The drill helps helps to redirect the attack and keep the attacker off balance.

I have a degree in fine arts with much experience being around the film and television industry. I was pursueing an acting career in Los Angeles for fourteen years, but now I am back living here and would like to get more behind the scenes and put my artistic talents to work. I am an accomplished artist as well having my paintings in several local juried shows. I am a very hard worker with a strong work ethic and I am very excited about starting this new career path.

It would be great to find a mentor that knows FILM AND TELEVISION ART DIRECTION and could teach me what he knows. I would be willing to work as an intern for a period for as long as I would need to. Please let me know what I need to do to make this all happen.

Take note: Recently, I posted that I was an experienced guitarist looking for a band. All I got was a bunch of inquiries "with stipulations." LOL... this is Detroit not LA...we are not paying to play here. I'm talking about gigging in bars and having some fun doing it. (hopefully a wide range of bar venues from greasy holes to uptown stints that pay a decent coin) I'm not interested in how much experienced you have.. I've played with experienced guys that didn't amount to crap because their attitude sucked and I've played with novices that paned out to be kick-ass because they had their head in the game. If you can play your instrument, got your head where it should be and are cool.... your the type of musician I would love to gig with.
