Trane XR80 Furnace problems, need help! (Shelby Township)

I've had a local furnace company come out several times and do nothing but a clean of my furnace costing me a lot of money.
About 3 years ago my Trane XR80 furnaces board was replaced with a "Universal" Board. It seemed to have shorted out.
Ever since, we've been living every November with a dead furnace. I can fix it most of the times but I want a permanent fix.

I've cleaned the flame sensor with sand paper.
Used an air compressor to blow out the dust out of the wiring/flame area.
And now, I receive either a high limit sensor error code, and today it was a flame rollout sensor reached.

Recently per our furnace companies advice we replaced our electronic air cleaner setup with a throw away filter, I bought the best one they had but
as I understand it may be restricting airflow causing even another issue (flame rollout or high limit....)

Any thoughts? I'd love to see a real technician fix this. It's odd but when this breaks, I can never get ahold of anyone. As soon as they can come out
and look the furnace works and they take their awesome stop in pay check.

Anyone?!?

Please consider the photos shown below, these are taken top-down. I am not sure what you call these things, man holes, semi-circles, whatever... my understanding they were used in the past in Canton and other townships as part of code to provide escape access out of basements.. this is obsolete and it collects water, snow, etc. which i think may be weakening the basement wall or contributing to small leaks of late into the wall.. we fixed the leaks with hydraulic cement, no problem there.

I would like someone to propose a solution against this configuration.. i.e. can these things be removed, and replaced with sand, soil, etc. even if we change the ground level next to it..

The windows shown in the photos below are no longer, we just changed them with new ones!

Please propose a solution and bid on this cash job..

If you think this posting does not make sense, please execuse my ignorance, but i think there is got to be a way out of this old system..

The times are Friday (pick him up from school, which is very close to my house) at 6pm, till 10:30 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am till 10:30 pm, though I may be able to negotiate a little if Saturday is too long.
