Posting again this week hoping maybe with pic's someone will recognize.
This wonderful cat found us on 9/25/26 Showed up at our door meowing like our door was her's, and refused to go away. We're desperately trying to reunite her with her owner/family. We have allergies, but I don't have the heart to send her to the humaine society or call animal control to pick her up.
Female cat found in the Village of Romeo, late night Thursday 9/25. Just south of 32 mile and Van Dyke. No collar. She's at least 1-2 yrs old, I don't know how to tell age but she's not a kitten.
Beautiful multicolored, mainly black with orangeish(tortoise shell looking). No white on her really, maybe the lighter area on her belly? Very well nourished as you can see in pic's, healthy, well mannered, mellow, and super clean. She's loveable. Is not declawed, totally litter box trained. She looks as though her owner took great care of her. By the way she acts, I'm assuming she's a local indoor cat who'd never been outside before. She's just too perfect, someone has to be missing her. She doesn't mind noise or children.
Please, if you know of anyone in Romeo/Bruce/Washington area that has a cat with this description...find out if it's gone missing recently. I also put her info on file at Wilson's Vet in Romeo/Washington for those who may not have internet access.

I saw a black male dog crossing the intersection of Inkster and Ecorse rd.
Sunday Oct 5th.
I pulled over to help him and he quickly jumped into my car and licked my face.

He was severely covered in burs. We tried to comb the out but the were so bad
we had to cut them out and some spots even used sheers. We gave him a bath and fed
him. He is doing great here playing with our three dogs but I am sure he wants to go home.

The very first thing you should do is put posters up with REALLY, REALLY BIG letters on them - all over - at all the busy intersections. This is a great way to get the word out, besides a newspaper ad which needs to be posted. Put posters up so that if someone sees your pet, they will be willing to pick it up or call you and tell you where they saw it. Just say: LOST CAT OR DOG/PHONE NUMBER. You probably know all the other things you need to do, but DO NOT overlook the posters.

I do a little bit of rescuing every now and then. I just found homes for my two rescued orphaned kittens, so I now could take in another. I saw your post and I also live in Troy. I would like to be able to help you rescue the orange tabby that you've been seeing. Do you know if it's wild, or are you able to get near it to pick it up?
I have a friend that is looking to adopt another cat because she just had to put her 13 year old cat to sleep. She told me she wanted a young orange white cat or kitten. I know she would take this one if I can get it and it's not wild or sick.
Otherwise if it is too wild or sick as much as I would hate to do it, taking it to the Humane Society would be the best thing to do for it before winter and the elements set in, or gets hit by a car.

If you have found a pet, there are a couple things you can do.
-First, put an ad in the newspapers. This is free for you and people often look for their lost animal there.
-Make posters that say you have found the animal. Use large letters: FOUND CAT OR DOG/PHONE NUMBER. Let the people describe their lost pet. Put these up in as many places you can think of where lots of cars drive by. The more cars that see the signs and can really read them, the more chance you have of finding the owner.
-Look on the online lost and found sites. Since you don't really know how long the animal has been wandering, this is a good place to look. There are a few of these sites.
-Think about taking the animal to a local rescue league if you can't find the owner. This will give it a good chance to find a good home. You can find rescue leagues by going to the local pet stores on weekends to see them, or look on Petfinder.com
-Think about keeping the animal. Maybe it would make a good pet for you
-Before taking it to the shelter, look up how many animals are euthanized. This is a terrible fate if the animal simply can't find its way back home, or the owners just dumped a cute cat or dog. Some animals have wandered a long way and the owners may not even look in the shelter by your home.
-Post a picture on Craigslist to try to place it. Tell all the good qualities of the animal.

I found a staffy mix (black & white) back in February and she was pretty banged up, I just heard about craigs and thought I would give it a try. I found her at 10 & Kelly in Roseville she did have a collar on with a name on it, but no tags. I posted with all the local police and shelters and no one claimed her. The vet I took her too said the wounds she had were old and not cared for so I took her in, healed her wounds, got her fixed and got her shots. She has been living with me since and unfortunately my female shepherd has never accepted her so if she is yours I would like to return her to you before I try to place her up for adoption. You will have to know her name and what color her collar was before I will return her. I would also like an explanation as to why she was in such bad shape when I found her.

On 09/25/2008, my husband drove his father's 5 X 8 utility trailer back to his home from Waterford to Oxford. Well, I sat the back of the trailer gate on the trailer, but never dropped it into the grroves that holds it steady and keeps items from falling out. Luckily, he was not transporting anything back to Oxford that would have fallen out. He took the route of Silver lake to Baldwin stopping at Max & Ermas (across from the Great Lakes Mall) for dinner, then venturing up Baldwin road ending-up on Stanton Road in Oxford/Brandon. Since September 1st, we found a black and white lab and pit mix (may have pointer in him). He is not fixed, has a cropped tail, and limps on his left ankle. We found him at the corner of Cass Elizabeth and Cooley Lake Rd. We have posted him EVERYWHERE. Very sweet dog, but we are not able to provide a home much longer to him because he is dog aggressive and animal aggressive. We found out from our neighbors that someone was out two weeks ago looking for him. We will hold onto him for only one more week. My husband bought a Ford Focus at Suburban Ford several months ago. He recently found a small black photo album. In the first two pages it was a picture of babies feet and the face of a very young baby. The remainder of the book featured two to three beautiful young girls. At the end of the photo album, it was a face of a man with the words Te amo! (I love you in Spanish) I am sure this missing photo album is very sentimental to someone. I would really like to get it back to it's owners. I know how I would feel if I lost something so dear to my heart. If you're out there, or know of someone who may have lost this, please contact me.

HAVE YOU LOST A PET? Things to do

If you have lost a cat or dog there are some things you can do that you may not have thought of:
1. FIRST, PUT POSTERS UP, RIGHT AWAY! This is of EXTREME importance. This ONE THING could be the determining factor as to whether someone is willing to pick your pet up, or let it wander past them. Make the letters readable from about 20 feet away so drivers can easily read them, which means the letters should be about 4 or 5 inches tall and really, really thick: LOST CAT OR DOG/PHONE NUMBER. Other things may be easier, faster, but do skip this one. Sponge brush at Lowe's or Home Depot, other stores, permanent ink or paint - not poster paints.

2. PLACE A LOST AD - Whoever finds your pet may not place a found ad, so it is up to you to place this ad in the newspaper where most people look.

3. CALL VETS and give them the info., since many people use vets as their contact for pets they have found, especially if it was injured
-
4. DO NOT ASSUME that because your pet had a tag on, it will be returned soon. Tags often disappear for whatever reason. People, possibly children may remove tags, they can get caught on things and pull off. Tags are nice, but do not mean you do not need to do all the things noted here, if you want your pet back.

4. VISIT SHELTERS each 2 or 3 days and go right away. Ask to go to the back rooms where they take the animals that are being held for owner identification. These animals are kept there until the 5 days or whatever time allotted runs out. Then they are put up for adoption, or whatever the policy of the shelter happens to be regarding animals brought in to them. Don't wait to go there, to assure the safety of your animal. By the way, despite the fact that your animal may have had a tag (which is often lost), or the fact that you have contacted them and given a description, DO NOT EXPECT THE SHELTER TO CONTACT YOU. Your pet may be sitting right in the shelter, waiting for you to retrieve it. There are too many similar animals and the shelters are too busy. Also, shelters will sometimes charge board for the days your animal remains there, so check often and check all shelters remotely near your home. Animals can travel quickly when frightened, be transported by people, etc. so don't just visit the shelter right by your home, but make a larger radius. (One dog was found 40 miles away). Also, just because you have contacted your local police department, does not mean you do not need to go to the shelter. The police department will not be looking for your pet and will not be checking the shelter - you HAVE to do this on your own, and right away - your pet could be picked up at any time.

5. CHECK PETFINDER.COM which is the site where rescue leagues post information regarding animals they are trying to adopt out. Often people will take an animal to a rescue league because they are afraid the shelters will put it to sleep. The leagues are very busy and may not place a found ad, assuming the animal is ready for adoption. You can check the animals who are up for adoption through these leagues (not all the animals are posted, though) and you can email a description, and a pic to give them the best chance of matching your animal if they see it or hear of it. Many times people call them about a pet, but the league may not have room for it. If they have a picture, there is a chance they may make the connection in remote circumstances such as these. Due to the fact that they are really busy, sending info. and a pic may be the best bet, because you may not get a return call or email.

6. VISIT PETSTORES like Petco and Petsmart, and other chains, because they often sponsor "adoption days" on weekends where the local rescue leagues bring animals they are trying to place. This is a good chance to leave info and a good picture of your pet with the league that happens to be there. These are not the only leagues, but it is a good thing to try. If you leave a pic. with info, then even if they are too full to take any more animals, if someone happens to contact them about your animal, there is a chance they will put the two together.

7. PUT FLYERS UP in those pet stores, including in the grooming department.

8. FOR CATS: Check under decks and inside storage sheds, and ask neighbors for help in this way. Go around calling at night, as injured cats are often too frightened to come out during the day, and may return at night, especially if they hear your voice. Check garages of neigbors who may be on vacation, by calling near the door, listening for a response. One of our cats was once found in a dug-out basement of new construction, so they can be found in odd places. One person said her cat returned when she left her back door cracked open. (Only good if you aren't worried about someone breaking in).

9. NOTIFY THE MAIL CARRIER: Someone said the mail carrier helped them find their pet. Well, they do go all over the city - but if you rely on this, only, you probably won't find your pet.

10. DON�T GIVE UP, as animals are often found in peculiar places, long after you would have expected them to return.

11. If you find your pet, try posting the things that helped you so others can have the same success you have had. Help others find their pets, too!

All my jewelry and my black leather purse, along with cd's, nail polish, my husbands family heirlooms,in a man's brown jewelry box, all in a white wicker square basket. The jewelry was gold necklace with a quarter moon (with a face on it) charm, a cowboy boot with a diamond and a black cats eye charm, a heart shaped diamond and ruby necklace, a gold necklace with a baby ring with the int. "J" on it and a heart locket with my grandsons picture in it, a rice necklace with " cub loves Dee" written on it, Some silver necklaces, a silver and white beaded bracelet with a heart shaped charm and 2 white shell necklaces.
