GOP won VA and NJ governor races. The biggest loss for the Dems was NJ.
New Jersey was a serious hit for the Democrats. The state, like the country, is in financial trouble. Obama let 'W' off-the-hook by accepting the job/responsibility to clean up the economic mess.
Corzine (D/NJ) got booted because of the economy. Corzine raised taxes (just like Schwarzenegger R/CA) because of financial binds. Now the GOP Gov-elect will have to do what Obama did - accept the economy problems as his own.
VA race was never close. The Dems nominated a very weak candidate. Nevertheless, the Democrats failed to get out the vote and lost the governorship. Poor political vision on the part of the Dems. Polls indicate that Democrat leaning voters didn't turn-out like last year. That is a COMPLETE FAILURE on the Democrat Party in VA.
The races for U.S. House seats cast an interesting view.
NY-23 (a REPUBLICAN STRONGHOLD since the 1800's, REJECTED the Palin Endorsed candidate (carpetbagger). This Republican held district didn't like what the Far Right tried to do and voted in a DEMOCRAT!!! The Far Righties labeled the GOP nominee as 'too-liberal' and moved to the Conservative Parties candidate (who didn't even live in the district - stupid move there)
CA-10 (a DEMOCRAT district) elected a DEMOCRAT instead of a Republican. The district was and is a Democrat district (unlike NY-23). Harmer (GOP) didn't get any help from Palin. Wasn't Harmer Republican ENOUGH??? OR -- Maybe the California race was closer BECAUSE Palin DIDN'T endorse him.
Looks like Sarah Palin's Ringing Endorsement was the 'kiss-of-death' for the New York Conservative Candidate. Palin, and the rest of the Far Right, rejected the GOP nominee because she was too-liberal. Looks like the voters of the NY-23 district REJECTED the Far Righties ... AGAIN.
