We currently have an estimated 12 month contract with one of our clients for a Manufacturing Engineer within an electrical assembly environment in the Sumner, IA area. Job Summary
Provide for the availability of equipment, processes and manufacturing capacity for the production of the drives product family.
Ensure that the manufacturing processes provide the highest quality product at the lowest cost.
Ensure that customer delivery commitments are met.
Essential Functions:
Functional Expertise
Justify and procure tooling and capital equipment necessary to maintain required production volumes.
Research, develop and document new and existing manufacturing processes.
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and process improvements.
Assist in the layout of new production lines including material flow patterns.
Provide technical support and training to assembly operators and technicians.
Ensure seamless implementation of engineering change notices.
Design, plan, and implement manufacturing processes to meet Quality, Schedule, and Cost goals.
Develop systems for handling non-conforming material coordination, engineering change approval, deviation approval and processing, material purges, holds and releases.
Identify and maintain the Sumner facilities quality records.
Conduct process audits of electronic assembly areas and tear-down product audits. Train and provide work direction to each teams quality auditors. Oversee and administer outgoing quality audit functions.
Responsible for gathering, organizing and publishing yield reports to management.
Coordinate disposition for non-conforming materials.
Be familiar with the use of computers to record and retrieve data of various types from information systems and compile it into summaries and reports using computer word processing and spreadsheets.
Implement and maintain quality plans for assigned products.
Investigate and implement corrective and preventive action on assigned products using applicable systems such as Discrepancy Action Reports, Supplier Correction Requests, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
Develop, implement and maintain overall statistical quality measurement systems for assigned products including periodic management reporting of measurements and implemented corrective action.
Suggest, lead and participate in quality teams.
Increasingly applies knowledge and exercises independent judgment to help solve problems across work groups.
Has accountability for projects/assignments that are less defined requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches.
Demonstrates a bias for action and issue resolution; takes accountability for meeting commitments and deadlines.
Design, plan and implement facility layouts for manufacturing processes.
Respond to, identify, solve, coordinate, and implement complex solutions to manufacturing problems.
Job Requirements:
1st Shift Position, Experience with Product Line Transfers, Project Management Knowledge, Possibly Some International Travel, SAP Experience a Plus.
Manufacturing Engineer: BS in Industrial Eng., Mechanical Eng., Electrical Eng. or other engineering field.
2-4 years of related Manufacturing Engineering in an electrical assembly environment.
Have a working knowledge of electronic manufacturing and ISO 9001.
Lean Six Sigma certification desired
