Sour Grapes (Farmington)

I know all of the excitement is about the recent elections. Many people here may think I would be sour grapes about the Republican wins, but I am not. In fact, I want to congratulate the Republicans on their gains. Despite how the ConPosters vilify about me, I am not against the Republicans. I like their beliefs about limited government, the belief that it is not the job of government to solve all of our problems, and supporting fiscal responsibility. There are many things I am very conservative on, but the ConPosters here paint me as a radical loon because I don't buy into the extreme right wing hate and fear mongering.

It wasn't so long ago in our history that the Conservatives were the ones who argued against needless wars and nation building, who believed in a healthy, sustainable environment and wanted rights with equality secured for everyone. I would like to see the Republican party get back to those beliefs and give the boot to the religious right, the xenophobes, the conspiracy theorists, racists, war profiteers, and megalomaniacs.

Our country needs a healthy two party system. We need politicians who can compromise and make legislation that benefits everyone. We need to find a middle ground again. More civility and reason. Using pragmatic logic instead of ideology to decide what's best. So if the people elect Republicans politicians who are going to represent all of the people in their district, not vote strictly on party lines, and not be a tool of special interest, then we all win.
