I am in need of a place to stay until the end of this month. I had to let my last room go because I lost my job, but now have temporary work in Ferndale. I'm currently driving an hour and a half to get there. I'm working 7 days/week and spending a fortune on gas - I can't afford it! Also, it's kind of a bummer to get up at 5am to be at work at 7. If I find a more permanent work situation, I may be interested in staying longer if all parties agree.

About a month ago my friend Gus found out that the organization he was working for was embezzling money. When he confronted the situation and asked for the money they owed him, they replied "we dont have it" and he was aggressively shown the door.

Feeling betrayed by people that he thought were his friends, he left Michigan with every dime he could scrape together and took off for familiar landscape. One month later, broke in Texas, I suggested that he come back to Michigan and try to start over.

Long story short, I purchased him a plain ticket and he will be landing at DTW Friday, Nov 6th around 6.15pm.

Here's were i need your help. Although my girlfriend and I are ok with letting him stay for a week, we really dont have the space for him to stay in our apartment. It is ultra cramped with just the two of us and our 2 cats.

Do you have any suggestions, a spare bedroom? Want the company? He would be willing to trade for work that needs to be done. He is a classically trained Chef, former English teacher and musician (piano, organ...)

He is a very hard working and motivated individual but has run on some rough luck.

So, I've found an awesome house in Ferndale for an amazing price... Just one little itty bitty problem: I'm only one person and it's a 3 bedroom house for $950/month.
I would LOVE to find some sweet roommates to share the place with and we could all live in a great place for a great price. Ideally, I'd like to find a couple to share the master bedroom (or one person who doesn't mind paying more for the extra space), and one other to take the other smaller room. I would like to pay no more than $300/month after all utilities. This is definitely doable if we are able to divide rent among 4 people.

I am looking to move soon - the sooner the better, and there's a month of free rent in it for us if we move in Nov. Also, I have no furniture. So I leave the decorating to anyone who does, or we could all pitch in and get something inexpensive.

I will be starting a new project in Warren come December and will be working between there and Mount Clemens until late January/Early Feburary when I will be leaving for an overseas assignment. I also have a place in Lansing where I plan on spending most, if not all, of my weekends and I will also be required to move between MI, GA, IL, and NJ at least once or twice during my stay with you . I am fairly certain I will only be home Monday-Friday. I would prefer someone around my age (mid twenties to early thrities) with no children. Married/Engaged couples are fine with me and I should have little to no visitors while staying with you. Ideal for 1) a busy professional with maybe a side business who can‘t be in two or three places at once, 2) a retiree on a fixed income needing a few dollars to help out, 3) a female or male who needs/wants someone to watch the house, do work in and around the house, feed & watch the animals, and/or have someone to talk to, 4) an empty nester, 5) a person with a spare room in the house, or 6) a person who’s looking to be helpful and charitable to others in need.

On a personal note: I consider myself an easy-going, loyal, old school/hard-to-find these days/non-intrusive/will look out for you type person who likes to be constructive with others. I have my own life and reputation to look out for so there’s no need to worry about your belongings, about me, or about your peace of mind. I don't like trouble, messy living, messy relationships, or interpersonal drama and unnecessary pain. I like good stuff to happen to me and to the people around me, if they want it.

I'm a 25 year old graduate student. I work full time at a job that guarantees reliable hours/salary and job security. I work in the evenings and spend every-other weekend at one of my parent's houses because I take my little son to see his grandparents, so you would have the place to yourself most of the time.

While I like to socialize, I am past the "Frat House" mentality. I'd prefer a woman around my age, because I tend to vibe better with women. And I am not some creep looking to score - just looking for someone that I get along with to share housing expenses. Most people I know ended up graduating and moving out of Michigan, but I'm still here.

Figure it would be easier to find the roommate before the house/apartment cause I am pretty indifferent about the location as long as it is within reasonable distance to my employer and college campus.
