I have a few 6-12 week old birds available.
These girls should begin laying at about 6 months of age.
Bielefelders lay big brown eggs.
Once these chickens begin to lay, they will produce well over 200 eggs per year!
My birds lay all Winter long....even when it is well below zero.
Once these girls mature, they will do the same for you as long as you provide them with artificial light (14-16 hours per day).
I use a cold start shop light from Menard's for this purpose.

Bielefelders are a VERY rare and desirable breed of chickens.
They were first developed in Germany in the 1970s.
They are a hardy breed, well acclimated to handle Illinois Winters.
Greenfire Farms of Florida were the first to import them into the US from Germany in 2011 & 2013.
The USDA banned the import of foreign poultry into the US in 2014.
Consequently, Bielefelder chickens are very scarce in the United States.
They have become highly sought after for their many excellent & unique qualities.
All of the great things that you have read about Bielefelder chickens on the internet are absolutely true!!

• They are a TRUE Auto-sexing breed. You can tell the girls from the boys as soon as they hatch.

• They are a terrific egg laying breed. They begin to lay eggs at only 6-7 months of age. They lay big brown eggs. Hens will lay 200+ eggs per year. Bielefelders are known to continue to lay in Winter, even without artificial lights. ( However, I provide my birds with 14-16 hours of light in order to maintain maximum production all year long).

• Bielefelders (being developed in German) are a very Winter hardy breed. They do well in Illinois Winters as long as they have a dry chicken coop to get into.

• Bielefelder hens are large birds (getting up to 8lbs). You don't have to worry about those local hawks if you free range your Bielefelders.

But BEST OF ALL, Bielefelders have VERY docile and have easy going personalities.
They love hanging with the people when allowed to free range in the yard.
Hens will allow young children to remove eggs from under them without being pecked.

Bielefelders chickens are the ideal breed for your Urban Chicken keeping project.
Your kids will be able to tame them and make great pets of them.
Most importantly, is the abundance of big brown organic eggs that they will produce for you!!!

Initially, purebred Bielefelders will cost a tad more than the average barnyard chicken.
However, they cost the same (very little) to keep as other chickens and the unique qualities of the breed are well worth it!

I have a few 6-12 week old pullets available for $35 each.
Or buy 3 for $100.
Better yet: 6 for $150
