24 EIGHT -31 FIVE - 381 FIVE---_VERY VERY VERY--RARE 1935 WATER WITCH 6 HP OUTBOARD MOTOR made for SEARS by MUNCIE GEAR WORKs who also marketed NEPTUNE outboards--COMPLETE -turns over---NEW PAINT & DECALs--this outboard is very old school even for old outboards-the powerhead is fixed & the tiller handle only turns the lower unit-unique like the first outboards of the late 1910s--MUNCIE GEAR WORKS of Muncie ,Indiana- made gears for the auto makers-most famous is the iconic M21 & M22 -4 speed manual transmissions for GM muscle cars-in the 1960's----starting in 1930 with the GREAT DEPRESSION autos weren't selling and that meant Muncie wasnt making many gears-they began making outboards called Neptune & Muncie-they also landed a contract to make outboards for SEARS under the WATER WITCH name-the 2hp was a good seller for SEARS but the 4hp & especially the 6 HP were very expensive--in 1935 the country was still in the worst of the GREAT DEPRESSION-$$$$ were tight--you may have a buyer for a 2hp- maybe even a 4hp but few had the $$ for a 6HP -Sears did not even stock the 6HP -when you ordered it from the catalog it was direct shipped to you from the Muncie factory in Indiana-the WATER WITCH 6 HP was a 1 year model--this one is # 1,800 indicating in 5 yrs Muncie had only made less than 2,000 outboards total-mostly 2hp-if you want a rare outboard this is it--very few 6HP made for SEARS because of the Great Depression- you could buy a good used car for the price of this 6 HP--very few survive as this was a 6yr old outboard by 1941 the start of WW2- if it didn't run good it ended up in the aluminum scrap drive for the war effort and became part of a B-17 bomber- Google -1935 WATER WITCH 6HP & you will not find one besides this one-that's how SUPER SUPER RARE this 6HP is-so here's a chance to own 1 of 1 cosmetically restored survivor-lots of BRASS-COPPER-NICKEL & ALUMINUM--this 6 HP was the last of the Muncie made WATER WITCH's-after 1935 Kissel gained the contract & changes the design-no more square fuel tanks- the new name was Waterwitch one word -a name that could be trademarked to Sears-----------****24 EIGHT- 31 FIVE-381 FIVE ****
