It pains me to do this, but after waiting most of my life to build up a hand made Italian road bike and attaining that dream about 17 years ago, it's time for me to let her go. I bought the frame new at Continental Bike Shop and had them build it up with an 8 speed Campagnolo Chorus group minus the headset, which was a new Stronglight roller bearing type. The wheels they found for me were sew ups, but later on, I acquired a set of Campy low profile clincher rims and mounted some Continental 4000 tires. The pedals you see in the photos are clipless Shimano. Stem and Bars are 3TTT. Everything works as it should and except for one tiny nick on the down tube (no dent), the frame is rust and scratch free with perfect decals. Tubing is Columbus NEMO. Bars are covered with Books leather wrap. This cost me over $3000 back when I bought it. If you're not familiar with Mondonico frames, Antonio Mondonico was a highly respected frame builder in Italy who perfected a system of pinning the frame tubes to the lugs as opposed to spot brazing them. He felt that subjecting the joints to extreme heat twice in the brazing process was detrimental to strength and alignment. The pins were filed off prior to final finishing, but if you were to disassemble the frame, you could feel the pins on the inside of joints.
$1200 will make it yours, but this is a local cash sale only. I will toss in an extra rear wheel with a Continental stationary trainer tire mounted on an Ambrosio rim.
