This passenger/boarding ticket was for n Eastern Airlines flight from Tampa to Detroit on March 3, 1959, with an overnight layover in Detroit, and an early morning flight the next day from Detroit to Grand Rapids on North Central Airlines.

Eastern Airlines started in 1926 and operated until 1991, while North Central began in 1944 and merged into Northwest Airlines in 1986, being renamed Republic Airlines..

The ticket was issued to “Mrs. B. Lawton” but the name “Mary” is on the cover of the folder.

Tickets and boarding passes were part of the same ticket. On the back of the ticket, passengers are reminded of the 3 dollar “No Show” fee.

Back 67 years ago, you could fly from Tampa to Detroit to Grand Rapids for 65 bucks. While that might sound cheap, 65 bucks in 1959 translates to about $725 today. So flying back then was pretty exclusive.
