This very old ticket somehow survived without getting tossed or damaged. Also, somehow it found its way from Toronto, Ontario, to western Michigan.
In 1879, the Bond Street Congregational church was built on the corner of Bond and Dundas Streets in Toronto. The building was spectacular, with seating for 2000 along with a standing room area.
In 1890, the church became so popular that it started to issue reserve seating tickets for the services.
This particular ticket reserved one seat in Pew 73 for the March 31, 1890 service.
The card is made from a mid-range cardboard stock . It measures 2 3/8 x 3 1/8 and is mint shape, especially for being 135 years old.
