Two of these three road maps are reminders of how car travel in Michigan was so different back in the day.
Of the three, the AAA map with the yellow cover is the newest, from 1966, but before I-75 was completed. Back then, AAA put out huge road maps along with their famous Pre-GPS Trip-Tik.
The blue covered AAA map is from 1958,, when the Mqckinac Bridge was new and Interstates hadn’t been built yet.
Finally, the Pure road map is the oldest of the lot, from 1950. It’s lithographed in an older style. Pure Oil had such a cool logo and I remember seeing quite a few of them was I was a young kid. The map shows what travel was like throughout Michigan when you had to take a ferry to get to the Upper Peninsula.
