Back in the 1940s and 1950s, the Elmwood was the place to go. It was billed as “Canada’s Largest and Gayest Supper Club.”
The club was located in Windsor, Ontario,
Music, dancing, eating, and drinking were all part of the experience.
Celebrities like Louis Armstrong, Frankie Avalon, and Sammy Davis Jr. performed there.
The six women having a night out in this photo look pretty happy.
This large photo (8 x 6 inches) was inserted into an 8 x 10 inch souvenir folder. A photographer would go around the supper club, snap photos of larger groups, develop them on site, and sell them individually. Not a bad gig.
On the left inside cover are two names: Phil (Phyllis?) Robinson and Ann Eggleston.
