Vintage 1940's-1950's Black Chiffon Evening Gown - This is a fabulous gown that could still be worn today for a special event like Homecoming, Prom, Anniversary, etc. Also good for any retro dance events. It is a full length black chiffon gown, lined in taffeta. There are strips of black lace throughout that is backed by an aqua blue satin ribbon. It closes with a metal side zipper. The bodice is boned front, sides and back. The lining has a wide buckram piece sewn to the bottom to give the skirt some stiffness/stability. A full skirt that could still accept a crinoline/petticoat underneath for extra fullness. In very good condition for its age, but does have some things to note. There are spots on the black lace that are damaged (mostly around the bust and underarm area). The buckram underneath is stained, but is underneath so does not show when wearing or displaying the dress. When I bought this, it fit in the waist right up to the bust where I was just a tad too busty for it. I sewed in some black elastic to extend the bust area. This can be taken out and put back as it was should you need to. I see no size or maker labels in it, but I was a medium when I bought it, but it could also be considered a small.
